Free access, real experience, and a reference that matters
Bytes & Biscuits trains young people to become Digital Mentors for older adults in East Gippsland. You use skills you already have, help real people in your community, and build experience that actually looks good. And for as long as you are an active mentor, you game for free at ESports Collective.
We know not everyone can afford to walk through the doors at ESports Collective. Give your time to the community, and ESports Collective gives you free access in return. On top of that, you get:
There are two steps. First, you complete your Digital Mentor training using Good Things Australia's nationally recognised curriculum. It covers how to explain technology clearly, how to support different learning styles, and how to keep sessions safe and comfortable.
Then you get time to practise and build confidence before mentoring independently. When you are ready, you work one-on-one or in small groups with older community members (50+) - helping with video calls, online banking, MyGov, or just figuring out why their phone keeps doing that thing.
You will never be thrown in at the deep end. Support from the ESports Collective team is always available.

You probably already help people with technology more than you realise - a parent who cannot figure out their phone, a grandparent confused by a new app, a friend setting something up. You do it naturally, without thinking of it as a skill.
Bytes & Biscuits formalises that. You walk away with an accredited certification through Good Things Australia, documented volunteer hours, and a professional reference from a federally funded program - the kind of experience that makes a real difference when you are going for your first job, or your next one.
Help close the digital divide - register your interest and we will let you know about upcoming training sessions.
